STATEMENT
This docu-film describes the plight of Dr Saeed Abuzour’s family. The narrator is his cousin Hazem Rafiq Abuzour from Gaza.
The family having had to flee from their home in the Al-Zaytun district, Gaza due to Israeli attacks took refuge in the home of his uncle Mr Khamis Salem S. Abuzour. They wrongly thought this area would be safe.
The move didn’t offer safe refuge and this house was targeted and hit by the Israeli occupying force with F16 artillery shell on 4th December 2023. The house was fully demolished – reduced to rubble. Fifty five members of the Abuzour family were killed. Of these 15 were women and 23 children. Their ages ranged from 91 year of age to just over 1 month.
Hazem states “My mother, my wife, my 5 children, my uncles and my cousins. All of them are still under this rubble.”
Despite this abhorrent tragedy his resilience is steadfast.
“ We are remaining patient and steadfast and will never leave our homes again. We are determined to rebuild it and bring life and hope back to our homes with Allah’s help.”
The film includes a photo tribute to members of the Abuzour family who were martyred.
